Proverbs 21: 2, 3, 5, 7, 9, 17, 24, 31

2  A person may think their own ways are right, but the LORD weighs the heart.

3  To do what is right and just is more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice.

5  The plans of the diligent lead to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty.

7  The violence of the wicked will drag them away, for they refuse to do what is right.

9  Better to live on a corner of the roof than share a house with a quarrelsome wife.

17  Whoever loves pleasure will become poor; whoever loves wine and olive oil will never be rich.

24  The proud and arrogant person—“Mocker” is his name— behaves with insolent fury.

31  The horse is made ready for the day of battle, but victory rests with the LORD.

Prayer

Our loving Lord Jehovah, You are our strength, our song and our salvation. Who can be like you: holy and glorious, blessed and feared and do marvelous deeds? You are our Abba Father God in heaven. We honor you and praise your holy name. “Who can ascend the mountain of the Lord? Who may stand in his holy place? The one who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not trust in an idol or swear by a false god.” Since we are justified by faith, may we receive blessing and vindication from you and live a life that pleases you. Please forgive us for being lazy and fail to worship you whole-heartedly. If we offend others on earth, we can plead with the judge. We have offended you, Lord, who can intercede for us? If you are angry with us, none of us can stand before you.

Thank you Jesus! You came in the flesh and acted as an advocate for us before the Father. You, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to your own advantage; rather, you made yourself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, you humbled yourself by becoming obedient to death----even death on a cross. In doing so, you built us the bridge of life, leading us to God. Lord Jesus, you have personally faced people with arrogance, scorn and vain conceit. They often use treacherous tongues to provoke disputes and turmoil to cause others to suffer. They turn the way of righteousness into a crooked path of death and destruction. We thank you, Lord Jesus! You have left us beautiful footprints to follow so that we can be alert and diligent in our walk: to act justly, to love mercy and to walk humbly with our God. Please give us the confidence and power to remove this mountain of rampant pandemic in front of us so we can see the path of hope you have prepared for us.

Dear Holy Spirit, thank you for working in us to will and to act in order to fulfill your good purpose. Let us do everything without grumbling or arguing, so that we may become blameless and pure, “children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.” Then we will shine among others like stars in the sky as we hold firmly to the word of life and will be able to boast on the day of Christ that we did not run or labor in vain. Holy Spirit, please remind us that no one can bring what is pure from the impure. Please teach us to rely on God with all our heart, persevere in the pursuit of justice and mercy and build our resting place with  life, justice, and honor. Help us to guard our mouth and tongue, protect us from trials and tribulations, teach us to be generous in giving and thus live a victorious Christian life. Like cows and sheep turning green grass into pure milk, let us be transformed by renewing of our mind; making plain to everyone the administration of the mystery which for ages past was hidden in God, who created all things

We pray in the holy name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen!
