Psalm 141: 1-5

1  I call to you, LORD, come quickly to me; hear me when I call to you.

2  May my prayer be set before you like incense; may the lifting up of my hands be like the evening sacrifice.

3  Set a guard over my mouth, LORD; keep watch over the door of my lips.

4  Do not let my heart be drawn to what is evil so that I take part in wicked deeds

along with those who are evildoers; do not let me eat their delicacies.

5  Let a righteous man strike me—that is a kindness; let him rebuke me—that is oil on my head. My head will not refuse it, for my prayer will still be against the deeds of evildoers.

Prayer

Father in Heaven, good morning,

You alone know every human heart. From the rising of the sun to its setting, the name of the Lord is to be praised! We surrender our whole being to you to be used for righteous purpose. We trust and obey you wholeheartedly. Let our prayer be like sweet fragrance fill up this room. Let the day begin with the Lord.

The Lord Jesus is our shepherd leading us away from evil. Apart from you we have no good things. We will never be in need. Save us from following the footsteps of the wicked and hanging out with them. We are afraid that we might be influence by bad examples and drawn to evil, then unknowingly acquiesced to commit wrongdoing and partake in their feast afterward. We pray for sound wisdom and discretion to choose friends and to live cautiously, to think before we act, to be prudent in what we say or do, and to keep our eyes on Jesus.

Spirit of Truth, we submit our bodies, hearts, and souls to you. Let our hearts not be disturbed in these troubled times, and our bodies not be infected with the virus during this pandemic crisis. Let us be careful with what goes in or comes out of our mouths. We humble ourselves and are happy to be exhorted and chastened by righteous people because they do it out of love. We will pray for those who curse us. Thank you for filling us with joy and happiness when we are going through the storm. Thank you for your promise that we are never alone as we travel our path of life.

We pray in the holy name of Jesus Christ. Amen!
