Psalm 18:1-3, 33, 49-50

1  I love you, LORD, my strength.

2  The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield [b]  and the horn [c]  of my salvation, my stronghold.

3  I called to the LORD, who is worthy of praise, and I have been saved from my enemies.

33  He makes my feet like the feet of a deer; he causes me to stand on the heights.

49  Therefore I will praise you, LORD, among the nations; I will sing the praises of your name.

50  He gives his king great victories; he shows unfailing love to his anointed, to David and to his descendants forever.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, God, we love You and we want to rededicate our commitment to you first thing in the morning. We praise You, Lord, for You are our rock, our fortress, and our deliverer. Let us run straight to your open arms. The COVID 19 pandemic made us feel like the cords of the grave coil around us. The torrents of destruction from the coronavirus outbreak overwhelm us but the sound of surging tides and giant waves cannot block out our cry for help. We know that You will reach down from on high, take hold of us and pull us out of deep water.

Lord, Jesus, this morning we saw the low dark clouds met up with the fog as if that was the day when You were taken up to heaven while we and the disciples were watching, and a cloud hid You from our sight. The dark clouds were under your feet and around you like a moving palace, and we held on to your hand, so we won’t fall. Jesus, we look forward to your presence. You make our feet run as fast as those of a deer, so we can leap over the pandemic walls that enclosed us. You lift us up higher than the waves created by the virus and set us securely on the heights. You treat loving people with kindness, Perfect people, treat them completely. Clean people, treat them cleanly. You bend the crooked people. Haughty eyes, You will humble him. You vindicate and save the poor people. You will judge us according to our righteousness and reward each of us for what we have done.

Holy Spirit, take control of our minds, remind us of all that Jesus has taught, and keep us from sin. Purify our hearts with the word of God, and raise the shield of faith. We are cast down, but we are not defeated because Jesus wins in the end. Light the lamps of our hearts that we may illuminate darkness in this generation. Let us declare the immense grace of God and that He will be with us and help us overcome this turbulent global pandemic. The Lord will restore the stability and peace in our land.
