Psalm 23: 1-6

1  The LORD is my shepherd, I lack nothing.

2  He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,

3  he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.

4  Even though I walk through the darkest valley,  I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

5  You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.

6  Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.

Prayer

Lord, You are the Creator of all things that exists, our Father in Heaven, the great shepherd, and the alpha and the omega, the beginning and the end. Thank you that you refresh our souls on this sunny day. We lay all our plans before you this morning, give us strength and courage to get through whatever comes before us today. Thank you for providing our daily needs and the assurance of your promise that you will be with us.

Lord Jesus, thank you for loving us and tending to our needs. We are like sheep and cannot make it alone without the shepherd. Thank you for the promise that you will be our shepherd and will find a place for us to rest. You walk with us and heal the pain of our souls. You renew our energy so that we can trudge through the valley of pandemic and other adversities. With your presence in our boat, we can laugh at the stormy sea.  We press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.

Holy Spirit, equip and empower us to live faithfully, courageously, and victoriously. Lead us to reject the advice of evil people, and to walk steadily on the path of righteousness. Anoint us with your love and joy. Thank you for the abundant grace and provision for every area of our lives; our cups overflow. Help us living out Christian lives that others may see Jesus in our words, actions, and thoughts and give praise to our Heavenly Father.
