Psalm 62:5-8, 11-12

5  Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from him.

6  Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken.

7  My salvation and my honor depend on God [c] ; he is my mighty rock, my refuge.

8  Trust in him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge.

11  One thing God has spoken, two things I have heard: “Power belongs to you, God,

12  and with you, Lord, is unfailing love”; and, “You reward everyone according to what they have done.

Prayer

Mighty and Loving Father, God, we wake up and start our day in silence and stillness and softly we whisper our prayer to You. We no longer cry like hungry babies but we still love to snuggle up to You and rest in Your presence. Patiently we wait for Your guidance to begin our day and to write our own life journeys for the remainder of the year. Thank you that each day brings a new beginning and a new hope.

Lord Jesus, our savior and fortress whom we can trust completely. You are our mighty rock and our refuge in times of trouble. We dare not respond on our own to the COVID pandemic that has been tormenting us, instead, we pour out our hearts to You to relieve the stress. We want to be like You, humble and gentle in heart. Thank you that You are willing to accompany us to carry the yoke of life. Let us walk with You and learn from You to plow today’s rugged roads for tomorrow, for the future and for our next generation that they may rest in quietness and in confidence in the Lord.

Holy Spirit, give us wisdom not to stand under the wall of corruption and falsehood but lead us to the impeccable path of honesty, and integrity, so that we may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom we shine as lights in the world. Help us hold firmly to the word of life; then, on the day of Christ’s return, we will be proud that we did not run the race in vain and that our work was not useless.

We pray silently in Jesus’ name. Amen.
