Psalm 87 1-3, 5-7

1  He has founded his city on the holy mountain.

2  The LORD loves the gates of Zion more than all the other dwellings of Jacob.

3  Glorious things are said of you, city of God

5  Indeed, of Zion it will be said, “This one and that one were born in her, and the Most High himself will establish her.”

6  The LORD will write in the register of the peoples: “This one was born in Zion.”

7  As they make music they will sing, “All my fountains are in you.”

Prayer

Praise Our Father in Heaven, We are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his possession, and a people protected by God. We were bought at a price. Not even the ferocious pandemic can bury our faith in the mud and cause us to lose hope, nor can the pandemic stop the church from having in-person worship, or impede the sharing of the gospel. We must rise up and proclaim Your virtues. You are the Lord who called us out of darkness into marvelous light.

Lord Jesus, Salvation is to be found in You alone; in all the world there is no one else whom God has given who can save us. We are grateful. You are the gate. All who come in through You will be saved. Through You they will come and go and find pasture. We are born again through faith in Christ and those who are saved, their names will be written in the Lamb’s book of life. We place our hope in You for You give strength to Your people and bless them with peace. You are our source of everything. The church is the body of Christ, the kingdom of God on earth. May brothers and sisters get together at church again soon, and may they be free from the gloomy life of worry, turn burdens into joy, dance and sing praises to You and proclaim Your love for humanity.

Holy Spirit, only You, God's Spirit, gives new life. The Spirit is like the wind that blows wherever it wants to. You can hear the wind, but you don't know where it comes from or where it is going. With a heart of obedience, we offer our time today and every day, following Your will and Your lead to be the channel of Your peace. Let our lives be a blessing to others. Where there is hatred, let us bring Your love, where there is injury, Your pardon, where there is doubt, truth faith in You, where there is despair in life, let us bring hope, where there is darkness, only light, where there is sadness, ever joy. Let us never seek so much to be consoled, as to console, to be understood as to understand, and to be love as to love with all our souls.
