Psalm 97:1-5, 10-12

1  The LORD reigns, let the earth be glad; let the distant shores rejoice.

2  Clouds and thick darkness surround him; righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne.

3  Fire goes before him and consumes his foes on every side.

4  His lightning lights up the world; the earth sees and trembles.

5  The mountains melt like wax before the LORD, before the Lord of all the earth.

10  Let those who love the LORD hate evil, for he guards the lives of his faithful ones and delivers them from the hand of the wicked.

11  Light shines [a]  on the righteous and joy on the upright in heart.

12  Rejoice in the LORD, you who are righteous, and praise his holy name.

Prayer

Righteous Heavenly Father, nations of the world shall come and worship You. We all come to seek and praise You in the morning. The clouds and thick darkness cover Your face and no one in the world can see the radiance of Your glory, but You can still see and hear prayer from people who are called by Your name. Our hearts tremble and shake when we hear the thunder and see the flashes of lightning in the sky. They serve as a reminder that righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne. You seem to have delayed the day of judgment, but You are really not being slow about Your promise, You are being patient for our sake. You do not want anyone to be destroyed, but want everyone to repent.

Glorious Lord Jesus, You will return the same way that You were ascended. On that day the heavens will be destroyed by fire, and everything else will melt in the heat. For all that is in the world, our pride in achievements and possession will be burned up in fire. Your righteous sternness must not be ignored. While we are still alive, help us to live a holy and godly life, and work diligently for God without faults and without blemishes so that we may come to You in peace. Lord, may You come soon.

Holy Spirit who examines the heart and soul, may Your healing grace be upon those who have been afflicted by diseases. Embrace those whose spirits are crushed and injured with Your comforting arms. For all the frontline medical staff and essential workers, may you protect them and keep them and their families safe. For believers who are suffering from spiritual drought or weak in faith, may You lead them out of the black hole with the light of truth. We pray for the body of Christ, many of the church activities have grinded to a near halt due to the coronavirus pandemic. There is no fellowship for brothers and sisters, and no discipleship training. The proclamation evangelism has been interrupted. We pray for protection and wisdom when the church is reopened for worship service. Again, let us sing praise to God and let it be heard in the community and let the earth be glad, for Christ is the head of the church and the source of our blessings.
