Scripture: "O Lord , I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps" (Jer. 10:23)
Today's Scripture & Insight:
Psalm 23
A psalm of David.
1 The LORD is my shepherd, I lack nothing.
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,
3 he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.
4 Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.6 Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
"O Lord , I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps" (Jer. 10:23) "Lead me in a plain path" (Ps. 27:14).
Many people want to direct God, instead of resigning themselves to be directed by Him; to show Him a way, instead of passively following where He leads. --Madame Guyon
The way of a sheep is based on the voice of the shepherd. Despite many voices around, a sheep only recognizes one voice. Although sheep is not a smart animal, it recognizes the shepherd’s voice. “When he has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice.”(John 10:4). It’s the same with the saints and the Lord. The Lord says He is the Good Shepherd, the saints are His sheep. When I hear the Lord, my way is filled with peace and joy. It is a terrible thing not to hear a shepherd’s voice! As you might walk on a risky road. Brothers and sisters, are you learning to hear God’s voice on your way?

Scripture to Respond:
Proverbs 3:5-7 (NIV)
5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;
6 in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.[a]
7 Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and shun evil.
Psalm 119:176 (NIV)
I have strayed like a lost sheep. Seek your servant, for I have not forgotten your commands.
Reflection
Are we gone astray like lost sheep, walking in our own way, disobeying God’s guidance, falling into the devil’s trap, thus grieving the Lord Jesus?
Would you learn to trust in God with all your heart, not leaning on your own understanding?
Prayer:
Please help me leave my self-centredness, make me trust in You fully, lean on You, submit to Your guidance and walk in Your will.
