Psalm 150: 1-6

1  Praise the LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens.

2  Praise him for his acts of power; praise him for his surpassing greatness.

3  Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet, praise him with the harp and lyre,

4  praise him with timbrel and dancing, praise him with the strings and pipe,

5  praise him with the clash of cymbals, praise him with resounding cymbals.

6  Let everything that has breath praise the LORD. Praise the LORD.

Prayer

Holy, Holy, Holy, Father in Heaven, Lord,

We praise you for your mighty acts. We praise you for your intricate creations. Thank you for speaking to us through analogy. We are like ordinary pieces of vessels, with your hands, you bend, twist, drill, file, cut, and design them into beautiful woodwind instruments with lip plates in place. We can breathe into it and lift up fingers or cover more finger holes to play music according to Your will. God you handcrafted each and every one of us with ultimate care. Thank you, for the wonderful workmanship.

Lord, Jesus, You know life is full of challenges and struggles, big or small; to help us cope, you let some of us be stringed musical instruments with wires of different thicknesses. Without these properties of strings, we may break or wobble when tension changes. Some of us become percussion instruments like clash and resounding cymbals. When life hits us hard, we can respond with sounds of rhythms instead of collapse and beat down. Whatever we are facing today, the pandemic or civil unrest, we ask God for help by prayer and supplication. We praise God for His deliverance, His mercy, and His faithfulness.

Holy Spirit, the church has not been reopened for in-person worship. We praise You wherever we are. Just as the heavens are higher than the earth, your thoughts and your ways are higher than ours. You provided us many ways to move worship online and to stay connected. Members are able to communicate with one another or submit prayer request through social media or texts. The resources provided by the internet are massive and we are able to deliver God’s word to many people. May Your word become a river of living water to those who are thirsting for God and may what we do be channels of blessing to others. Heavenly Father, thank you for sending the light.
