Psalm 41:1-6, 12-13

1  Blessed are those who have regard for the weak; the LORD delivers them in times of trouble.

2  The LORD protects and preserves them— they are counted among the blessed in the land— he does not give them over to the desire of their foes.

3  The LORD sustains them on their sickbed and restores them from their bed of illness.

4  I said, “Have mercy on me, LORD; heal me, for I have sinned against you.”

5  My enemies say of me in malice, “When will he die and his name perish?”

6  When one of them comes to see me, he speaks falsely, while his heart gathers slander; then he goes out and spreads it around.

12  Because of my integrity you uphold me and set me in your presence forever.

13  Praise be to the LORD, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting.

Amen and Amen.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank you for giving us spiritual and physical strength to start this new day. We know that in all things God works for good with those who love him. You will help us, protect us and save us. Lord, heal those stricken with COVID-19, comfort those in self-quarantined, or in isolation and protect the elderly and vulnerable who are alone at home or in nursing home. For patients hospitalized with COVID-19 or other illnesses, You know their anxiety and fear, give them Your gift of peace and strength needed at this time.

Our Lord Jesus, In our relationships with one another, let us have the same mindset as You. Give us hearts of compassion to care and help those who are in distress physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Whatever we do for them we do it for You. If we give to others, we will be given a full amount in return. It will be packed down, shaken together, and spilling over into our laps. Let the pool of our lives become the transfer station of the living water.

Holy Spirit, thank you for keeping us away from sin and unrighteousness. The pandemic and the social turmoil come as a dust storm turning our hope into a desert. Our fertile soil of love has begun to dry up. But we place our withered branches and leaves on the altar of prayer for your spiritual fire to burn away evil words and falsehoods, bitterness and resentment. Let Your spiritual wind and rain come to irrigate the earth and transform things that are unpleasant into things so splendor to prepare us for a great revival. The days of suffering will end, God willing. Help us to prepare the next generation today with Your word for tomorrow.

In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen. Amen.
